Additional Info:

I am applying to work in as a nanny because I have the skills needed to work with children and young people also I enjoy working with young children and seeing them fulfil their individual potential. I wish to pursue a career in working with children and young people. As part of my further studies I would like to undertake a MA in Education in September 2010.
I am a Sociologist. I have been working with children for 5 years in a range of different environments. In my home country I worked with children and teenagers from varying backgrounds, in social intervention programmes. Additionally, I have participated in social projects where parents are given support on how to positively interact both physically and emotionally with their children.
My new life in Britain has opened my mind and given me the opportunity to explore how I want to develop my career. In February 09 I participated in a BTEC Teaching Assistant Course, partly with the aim to understand the way the British education system works. Since then I have also been working as a Nursery Assistant. At first I was employed by an agency, and they sent me to different nurseries. After I started working in my current work place in a permanent position. As a Nursery Assistant I belong to a team where we have to follow instructions of the Room Leader or the Manager, also sometimes I have to attend trainings and meeting after work. In addition by using the EYFS and my sociology understanding I make observations of children performance and responses to their learning and according to their needs I establish a learning intention which is part of the monthly planning. In this job I kept learning about how to prepare the classroom for the activities and also deal with different children behaviours.
I am a person with firm beliefs and ideals. I care about society and would love it to be a more pacific place. I want to contribute to this by working in a school that involves children or young people who I believe are the future generation. Working in environments related to children and young people as a nanny I will have the opportunity to be a part of social change, such as caring about and considering others, respecting differences, being sensitive towards the way we relate to other people, recognizing each other as we are.
In my nursery work I have plenty of opportunity to practise these values, by teaching the children to share toys, to wait for their turn, deal with conflict and showing them how to allow each other the space to be themselves, that everyone is different, everyone learns at their own pace etc. In my view, to work with children in areas such as education has a great responsibility in terms of leading, being a role model, fostering friendships and sometimes acting as a substitute parent. My specific strength as a sociologist is an ease in creating a link between theory and the actual world, and also in observation, being aware of what is going on with a single child and the whole group. Also I recognise the importance of how children will best learn in a positive, happy and safe learning environment. I view every child as individual who will require a unique approach in how they are taught. I am fully committed to treating all children with equal opportunities and I am aware of how this will affect my interaction with them. I am also fully aware of the importance of following of Health and Safety procedures.
I will always continue learning myself as I am someone who wants to develop further and gain more insight and knowledge. I see education as our society’s very important task. By increasing my knowledge of Sociology of the Education, I would hope to be able to participate in academic environment as a Teacher or Social Researcher and to participate in social intervention programs related to Education and Cultural Studies. I like to read about a wide range of subjects especially on cultural identity, cognitive processes and science.

I am a very enthusiastic, energetic person, am organized, hard-working, creative, imaginative, resourceful, and I have plenty of experience with motivating and inspiring children. I love building relationships with them, am good at improvising, explaining things clearly and planning activities. With my current set of skills, I am more than confident to look after children as a nanny.
