Welfare Officer For this elected role I received an award as ‘Best Student Committee member’. I produced a successful online survey to all residents, have taken part in campaigns raising awareness of different issues and have also implemented automatic doors at reception.

Fundraising Secretary I raised money for the society and for Great Ormond Street hospital by holding a gig on campus.

Interests and Activities
• Debating: I represented my college in a debate about the Fair-Trade organisation to which the Bishop of Colchester participated. I was invited to join the new Debating Society at University.
• Events Management: I’ve organised four gigs in Colchester raising over £1,000 for The Russ Foundation and a local special needs nursery, Stepping Stones.
• First Aid: Through being a member of the First Aid Society, with the Red Cross, I’ve received a certificate which is valid for three years across Europe and have used this experience to work with a student night called “Rampage” as a First Aid Representative.
• International Developments: I subscribe to Developments magazine, keeping up to date with International Developments, namely with the UN and DFID.
• Music: Practising the piano, guitar and voice. I was part of the Learn How to Sing class in college, the choir in primary school, a band in high school and various collaborations at university.
• Reporting: I have occasionally written for the University’s newspaper, InQuire. I have produced reports on international contemporary issues.
• Sport: I ski, kayak (stage 1 achieved), swim (grade 4) and sail. I was a member of the Archery Club at the University of Kent.
• Travel and languages: I have good understanding of both French and Latin, with basic knowledge of much more, e.g. Swahili, Urdu, and Arabic.
• Volunteering: I have two ‘Gold’ Kent Student Certificate of Volunteering awards.
