Emma Kelly

Personal profile

I am an optimistic, hardworking and independent individual, who is keen on and enjoys learning new skills.
Since University and living with friends I have gained maturity, initiative and invaluable life skills.
I enjoy seeing children grow in all areas of development by creating appropriate opportunities and supporting them in these.

Work Experience

Nanny F/T– Ann Sheridan, Billericay – April 2009 to present day
Full time, sole charge of a 3 year old girl and 6 year old boy. Duties include picking the children up from school and pre school, taking the girl to toddler groups (swimming, library, soft play, music) helping the boy with homework and learning to read and write. Cooking meals and tending to the children's washing and ironing as well as keeping their rooms tidy. Activities in the school holidays like going to various parks, having picnics, going to the woods, visiting museums, farms, the seaside, etc.
I realise I have an influence on what the children believe to be right and wrong, and feel through conversations with their parents I am dealing with challenging situations in an appropriate way suitable to their individual ages.

Babysitter – Sitters – December 2009 – present day
I regularly babysit through the national babysitting agency Sitters. All the families I have worked for (5 to date) have specifically asked Sitters for me to babysit their children again. Ages looked after 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9.

Childminder P/T – Joanne Horlock, Chelmsford – August 2008 – present day
I regularly look after 3 children aged 7, 9 and 10 weekend mornings and some evenings generally keeping them entertained, by helping with homework, board games, taking both our dogs on walks through nearby woods, bedtime stories etc

Groom F/T – Runningwell Equestrian Centre, Wickford – December 2008 to February 2009
I left due to health issues brought on by this physically demanding job.

Waitress/bar maid F/T and P/T– Square and Compasses, Chelmsford - July 2008 to July 2009

Food and beverage assistant F/T- Holiday Inn Portsmouth – November 2007 to July 2008.
My main role was as a waitress in the restaurant which prided itself on spot on service.
I would set up conference rooms during the week and Christmas parties, birthdays, anniversaries and weddings at the weekend then serve food, clear and work on the function bar.
I felt myself constantly improving and believe I fulfilled my job role and more as my supervisor and manager would ask me to train new members of staff, seek my opinion on a lot of issues and trust me to set up a wedding alone or run the restaurant.

Public Relations P/T– Roughhill, Portsmouth – October 2006 to May 2008.
I promoted a club in Portsmouth whilst at University called Tiger Tiger which held two student nights, I would flyer and sell tickets in the day and work on VIP in the evenings. This job was not something I ever imagined I would have enough confidence to do as I had to constantly approach and talk to people I had never met before so my social skills have improved greatly.

Public Relations F/T– Life Club, Rimini, Italy – July 2007
Being in a foreign country unfamiliar with the people and the language team work played an important role in helping to communicate with people of all ages from all over Europe, my confidence grew tremendously and people I had not seen all summer commented on this once I returned to university.

Childminder F/T and P/T – Wayne Harriss, Chelmsford – August 2004 – September 2007
I began looking after two children aged 5 and 7 occasionally in the evenings and as I got older this progressed to me looking after them full time in their school holidays up to they were 10 and 12.
