Address: Expectastar Childcare agency
Melbourne, Australia
Dates: July - December 2008
Duties: While working with this agency I was sent to a few childcare facilities in Melbourne. I was required to be able to work in any childcare setting, with any age group. I met many people from varied backgrounds and worked with many children from 4months to 6years in a variety of settings.

Achievements:
I was on the student representative council in secondary school and in both colleges in attended. I received a certificate in Computer Literacy and was also nominated for "Pupil of the Year" in sixth year. I have attended many hospital-run courses such as Fire Safety Training, Manual Handling, Patient Handling and Good Practice Guidelines- Preventing Child Abuse in Hospital. I am also a qualified in First Aid with NATS (National Ambulance Training Service) and have regular BLS refresher courses.

Hobbies:
I enjoy meeting new people and socialising with friends. I absolutely love to travel and having back-packed many times to South-East Asia, Australia and New Zealand, North America and main-land Europe, I get many opportunities to experience new cultures and customs while also meeting new people. I keep fit in the gym, cycle to and from work and take part in the Flora Women’s Mini-Marathon each year that I am in Dublin.
I am a lively bubbly person that gets on well with others but can also manage a lot of responsibility. I thoroughly enjoy working with children and young adults and try to incorporate my career into my hobbies, i.e. volunteering with sick children while travelling.

Volunteering:
From August – November 2007 I volunteered with The Christina Noble Children’s Foundation (CNCF) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. As a volunteer I worked five days a week, with children and young adults from birth to age 18years old, from a wide variety of backgrounds. All of the children had some sort of additional need and were receiving care and rehabilitation at the foundation. Most of the children have been abandoned by their family due to their illness or disability being too much of a strain on the poorer family in Vietnam. My role as a volunteer was to take care of the children’s basic care needs, physically and emotionally. The main aim was to show them was love and fun! Whilst living there I totally immersed myself in the Vietnamese culture and customs in order to give appropriate care to the children I was volunteering with. I learned so much from my time there and was overwhelmed everyday by they’re determination and amazing spirit.
When I finished at the foundation I went to live in Australia for a year but as soon as my visa was complete I went straight back to CNCF and worked again for a further five and a half months (December 08 - May 09) every weekday. I thoroughly enjoyed my second time here as well. This foundation means an awful lot to me and I will continue to try raise awareness of it while both travelling and at home.

End. Thank you.
